Caught

Arrogant as marble,
as a monument,
all of me is caught in early light:
a commentary on the planes
and shadows slowly melting;
the turning breath of dew
on leaves;
the rippling moments
of the break of day.

And like a fountain rising,
like eagle smoke,
a memory of stars,
all of me becomes
a testament, now fading
to the edge of darkness.
All of me just dying
to be caught
inside your warm flesh fires.
